Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is an ancient practice that uses vibrations & harmonies from instruments such as crystal bowls, tuning forks, gongs & chimes to promote physical, emotional & spiritual wellbeing. The sound frequencies have the capacity to restore our bodies natural resonance & bring us back into harmonic balance.

What is a Sound Bath & what should I expect during a session?

I like to describe a sound bath as a massage for the cells! This is an immersive & healing experience where participants are “bathed” in sound waves produced by various instruments. These different sounds & vibrations can help to trigger the relaxation response, release tension & harmonise the auric field & charkas.

During a sound bath, you’ll typically lie down in a comfortable position whilst the practitioner plays a variety of instruments either close to or on the body. Sessions are tailored, but overall designed to help you enter deep meditative states where you can experience deep rest, emotional release & inner peace.

It is also my intention that these sessions support you in connecting deeper with yourself, your intuition & the answers/clarity you are seeking…which are all within!

What are the benefits of sound healing?

The crystal bowls & other instruments that I work with create vibrations that resonate throughout the entire body, potentially influencing the flow of energy, brainwave states & the nervous system. In turn, this promotes relaxation, stress reduction & overall wellbeing by aligning the bodies natural vibrational frequencies.

The idea is that by exposing the body to harmonies sounds, it can move towards a more balanced state of energy. Key benefits include:

  • Alleviation of chronic stress & anxiety

  • Release suppressed emotions

  • Harmonise the bio-field (aura) & chakras

  • Enhanced focus & clarity

  • Physical pain relief

  • Increased immunity & reduced inflammation

  • Supports spiritual connection

  • Supports cellular regeneration & healing

Is there anyone who should avoid sound healing/baths?

Sound healing is wonderful for all ages. However I suggest being aware of the following before you decide to book:

  • Those in their first trimester of pregnancy

  • Those who suffer from epilepsy or other seizures

  • Those who have a pacemaker or large metal implant

  • Those who suffer from serious mental illness.

  • Those with either a stent, shunt, or deep brain stimulation device (DBS)

  • Anyone under the age of 18 years old is required to provide consent by a parent or guardian.

Please contact your doctor prior to booking a sound healing session if you are not sure. All clients will be asked to complete an intake & consent form prior to the session. I will review this & discuss any health concerns with the participant prior to the session.

Do I need any prior experience to attend a sound healing session?

Nope! Anyone can attend & enjoy a sound bath. It’s suitable for beginners and seasoned sound bathers! All I suggest is that you are willing to be open and surrender to the experience and allow the sounds to guide you.

How long does a session typically last?

This depends on what session you are booking. Sound baths usually last between 30-60 minutes but can vary depending on the practitioner & format of the session.

How often should I participate in sound healing sessions?

The frequency of sound healing sessions can vary based on personal preference and goals. Some people benefit from weekly sessions, whilst others may attend monthly or as needed for relaxation and healing. I always suggest allowing your inner compass to guide you. You will know when it’s time for some sound medicine!

What do I need to bring with me?

For group session, depending on the venue, I suggest bringing:

  • A mat to lie on

  • A pillow for your head

  • a pillow for under your knees (optional)

  • A cosy blanket (important!)

  • Eye mask (optional)

  • Wearing warm/comfortable clothing

  • Bottle of water

  • Open heart & mind!

Is it normal if I: cry, laugh, move, sigh, shake or twitch?

Yes - all of this is normal. I always encourage authentic expression in the moment and to move/feel into whatever way feels good for you. There are all signs you are releasing stored up stress & tension from the body.

There is no shame or judgement if your body chooses to release via tears. Shedding tears is self soothing & a form of self regulation.

Studies demonstrate that tears carry cortisol (the stress hormone) OUT of the body. In turn, helping the nervous system to reset.

What others things might I experience?

  • Tingling sensations in the body

  • Vibrations from the bowls

  • Visualisations or different colours

  • Profound realisations/messages

  • Falling asleep

  • Clarity arising

  • Different emotions arising

  • Blissful states of being

  • Discomfort ( I encourage you to lean into this - discomfort always has something to teach us!).

  • Nothing! (also okay!)

Can I come if I am deaf or hard of hearing?

Yes! however, if you have a hearing aid my best advice would be to try a sound bath to see how much you can hear. The general advice for anyone with a hearing aid is to switch it off prior to the session because it can cause feedback.

You are not only receiving sound healing through the ears but also the frequency & vibration of the bowls through the entire body.

The audible sound itself is only one part of it. So please do not let this put you off trying a session!

Can men attend your sound bath sessions?

I do not work 1:1 with men. However, I would like to make this type of work more accessible for men. Therefore, men are welcome at my in person group sound bath sessions.
